LECOM Health held a ribbon cutting ceremony today for Erie County’s first Specialty Hospice Unit, located at LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 4114 Schaper Avenue in Millcreek.

An entire wing of the building has been renovated for the Specialty Hospice Unit and was dedicated in memory of Rev. Harry Johns III, a beloved former Chaplain of the Visiting Nurses Association of Erie County and respected pillar of the Erie community.

Featuring thoughtfully designed rooms to meet patient needs and expert staff providing 24/7 personalized, holistic care, the unit seamlessly combines exceptional medical care with the comfort of home.

“Caring for a terminally ill loved one at home can be extremely overwhelming,” said James Lin, D.O., President of the LECOM Institute for Successful Living and the unit’s medical director. “This new Specialty Hospice Unit redefines hospice care, offering families a compassionate alternative, ultimately providing them with peace of mind during an incredibly difficult time.”

New patients are now being accepted. Call the Visiting Nurses Association at (814) 454-2831 or visit LECOMHealth.com to learn more about the Specialty Hospice Unit.
