County Executive: ‘Stay home’
The message from Erie County Executive Brenton Davis at a noon press conference Sunday: “stay home, stay home, stay home.”
He expressed special concern over East Lake Road/PA Route 5 which has been unpassable. Davis also referenced the work of the Pennsylvania National Guard, who are assisting municipal and state snow removal efforts as well as stranded motorists. PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll is on the ground in Erie County and thanked first responders and emergency management personnel for their efforts. Carroll emphasized that resources were being deployed from the south and east portions of the Commonwealth to aid the response.
City Hall, County Court House closed through Tuesday
Due to the snow emergency in the City of Erie, City Hall will be closed to the public on Monday, Dec. 2 and Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Due to the disaster declaration and county-wide snow emergency, all Erie County government buildings will be closed Monday and Tuesday December 2nd and 3rd. Employees are encouraged to stay off the roads and not report to work.Employees working in 24/7 services are still required to report to work as normal. Universities closed through Tuesday
Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, and Penn State Behrend announced that their campuses will be closed with no classes on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 2nd & 3rd.
