For the holiday season, the City of Erie’s Department of Public Works will delay trash and recycling pickup by one day starting on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. For example: if your scheduled collection day is Tuesday, December 24, then your trash/recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, December 25; if your scheduled collection day is Wednesday, December 25, then your trash/recycling will be picked up on Thursday, December 26; and if your scheduled collection day is Thursday, December 26, then your trash/recycling will be picked up on Friday, December 27.

The one-day delay will also be in place starting on New Year’s Eve. So, for example, if your regular pickup would be Tuesday, December 31, then your pickup would be Wednesday, January 1, and so on. Normal pickup will resume the week of January 5.

Also, City residents may place their Christmas trees curbside on their regular collection nights beginning Wednesday, December 25, through Thursday, January 16, 2025.
