The 23rd annual Stars & Stripes Coed Invitational and the Erie MLK Cup, hosted by TCS Hockey, highlight another busy weekend of sports tourism in Erie County.
Both events will attract thousands of athletes and their families to Erie for competition to be held Friday through Monday.
The 2025 Stars & Stripes Coed Invitational at the Bayfront Convention Center will feature teams from Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, West Virginia and Ontario.
“Stars & Stripes has grown to become the largest Coed Invitational in Pennsylvania,” said Doug Pershun, program director for Team Lightning Inc. “This year we are filled to capacity with over 1,900 Athletes from over 40 quality Gymnastics Clubs.”
The Invitational features the Main Event on Saturday at 6 p.m. showcasing over 75 national level 9 and 10 gymnasts. Tickets for the event will be available at the door. Adults are $18, children $9 and military, police, fire and rescue personnel are admitted free with proper I.D.

The Erie MLK Cup will be contested at the Flo Fabrizio Ice Center, LECOM Sports Park and Mercyhurst Ice Center. The tournament will feature nearly 60 youth hockey teams from Indiana, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania across 13 divisions.

In addition, the Erie Sports Center kicks off its 2025 youth volleyball season this weekend. Girls 13R and 17R tournaments will be held Saturday and Sunday, respectively. In total, 12 one-day girl’s tournaments will be held in 2025.
