Laughlin Announces More Than $1 Million in CFA Awards for Erie County Projects

Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-49) announced today the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved more than $1 million in funding for key transportation and infrastructure projects across Erie County. The projects, aimed at improving public walkways, pedestrian safety and local roadways, were approved during the CFA’s Feb. 24 meeting.

The following projects in Laughlin’s district that received funding:

  • Enterprise Development Center of Erie County (Ironworks Square Public Walkway Improvements Project) – Awarded $231,236
    This project will enhance public accessibility and pedestrian safety in the Ironworks Square area.
  • Minority Community Investment Coalition (Grow Erie Public Walkway Improvements Project) – Awarded $149,492
    The funding will support improved public walkways, promoting community growth and connectivity.
  • Summit Township (Upper Peach Street Pedestrian Connectivity Improvements Project) – Awarded $400,000
    This initiative focuses on pedestrian safety and infrastructure improvements along the busy Upper Peach Street corridor.
  • Waterford Borough (West 2nd Street Paving Project) – Awarded $251,350
    This project will fund critical paving improvements to West 2nd Street, enhancing local transportation infrastructure.

“These investments directly contribute to the safety, accessibility and quality of life for Erie County residents,” said Laughlin. “I’m proud to support projects that promote community growth and improve essential infrastructure.”

The CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund supports projects that improve transportation assets, enhance pedestrian safety and foster economic development throughout Pennsylvania
