Wednesday, Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) indicated his strong support for the designation of a City Revitalization and Improvement Zone for Erie, and said he was “bullish on Erie’s future.”

Those remarks came in an exclusive Erie radio interview with Joel Natalie on 105.9 TalkErie WZTE.

Shapiro said he was happy that Harrisburg was aligned with the priorities of Erie’s leaders, and that officials were “rowing in the same direction,” and that he anticipated great outcomes from investments and focus on the Commonwealth’s only lake port city.

During the conversation with Natalie, Shapiro touted the highlights of his 2025-26 state budget, including new child care investment, basic education, and economic development. The Governor expressed that the initiatives all come under the umbrella of his administration’s theme of “Getting Stuff Done.”
