“Ripples of Plastic,” an award-winning documentary that has garnered national recognition for its compelling exploration of Great Lakes plastic pollution, will be screened on Thursday, March 20 in connection World Water Day at the Warner Theatre. Sherri Mason, Ph.D., serves a pivotal role in the documentary, along with filmmaker, Chris Langer, and other voices from the film will conduct a question-and-answer session following the screening. Mason is the director of Project NePTWNE at Gannon University.
The documentary, which has been praised for its powerful storytelling and in-depth analysis of the unseen impacts of plastic pollution in Lake Erie, will be on the big screen at 5:30 p.m. Doors to the Warner Theatre will open at 4:30 p.m. The Q&A session, moderated by Kristin Talarico of Erie Insurance, will immediately follow the film, offering a deeper dive into the critical issue of plastic pollution.
“The issue of plastic pollution is one that affects every community, including ours,” said Mason. “This documentary serves as an eye-opening call to action, demonstrating the urgent need to rethink our relationship with plastic and protect our water for future generations.”
“Ripples of Plastic” takes viewers on a compelling journey, illustrating how plastic waste infiltrates even the most natural environments and highlighting innovative efforts to address this crisis.
The screening is free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of event sponsor Erie Insurance. We invite environmental advocates, students and community members to participate in the dialogue surrounding one of the most critical ecological challenges of our time.
