Over 160 local leaders attended discussion on state budget

Local business and community leaders gathered this morning at Gannon University’s Yehl Ballroom for the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership’s (The Chamber) April Knowledge Breakfast.

The event featured an in-depth discussion on Pennsylvania’s 2025–26 state budget and its potential impact on the Erie region, offering members a unique opportunity to connect directly with Harrisburg policymakers and Erie’s legislative delegation.

Hosted in partnership with Infinite Erie, the breakfast welcomed Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis as the keynote speaker, alongside state representatives and local leadership for a morning of dialogue, connection, and advocacy.

“The spirit of innovation is strong here in Erie. The Shapiro-Davis Administration is working hard to help harness that energy,” said Lt. Gov. Austin Davis. “Since taking office, the Shapiro-Davis Administration has secured more than $3.7 billion in private-sector investments and created more than 5,000 new jobs across the Commonwealth.”

The event showcased The Chamber’s commitment to connecting members with decision-makers, reinforcing is mission of advocacy, partnership, and connection.

“Our Chamber is building stronger bridges between business and government every day,” said Brandon Mendoza, President and CEO of the Erie Regional Chamber. “Events like this prove that when Erie’s voice is united and clear, Harrisburg listens—and we make real progress.”

Kim Thomas, Executive Director of Infinite Erie, introduced the panel of NWPA legislators and emphasized the importance of alignment between local changemakers and state-level policy leaders.

“Infinite Erie was proud to sponsor this timely conversation,” said Kim Thomas. “Following Governor Shapiro’s Budget Address in February that we covered extensively, it’s critical that we continue bringing Erie voices together to analyze, interpret, and act on the proposals that affect our economic future.”

The keynote address was followed by a bipartisan panel discussion featuring Rep. Bob Merski, Chairman Ryan Bizzarro, Rep. Brad Roae and Senator Dan Laughlin. The panel offered attendees insights on current policy priorities, funding opportunities, and strategies to drive regional economic growth.

The morning concluded with announcements from Mendoza on upcoming Chamber events, including the Chamber’s Annual Golf Outing, now open to public registration and the Spirit of Erie celebration and award, which is scheduled for September.

The April Knowledge Breakfast once again reinforced the Erie Regional Chamber’s role in connecting members through purposeful advocacy and meaningful partnerships. For more information on future events, visit eriepa.com/events or follow the Erie Chamber on social media.
