The Imagine National Dance Challenge, hosted by Star Dance Alliance, will return to Erie this weekend for its final event of the regular season at the Bayfront Convention Center.

This year marks the event’s largest competition in Erie to date, featuring 200 dancers from Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.

The event kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. with solo performances by dancers ages 12 to 14, followed by an award ceremony at 8:45 p.m.

On Saturday, doors open at 8 a.m., with solo routines for dancers ages eight and under and ages nine to 11 beginning at 9 a.m. Awards for these categories will be presented at noon. Duets and trios will take the stage beginning at 12:45 p.m., with awards at 3:45 p.m. The final session of the day begins at 4:30 p.m. and features level two and three duets, trios and group routines. The night concludes with an awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, dancers ages 15-19 will perform solo routines starting at 9 a.m., with the final awards ceremony taking place at 12:15 p.m.

“This is our largest year yet in Erie, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Shaun Moe, national director of Imagine Dance Challenge. “The support from the community continues to grow each season, and we could not be happier to return to the Bayfront Convention Center for another year of competition.”

“Last year’s event was a tremendous success, and as the Imagine National Dance Challenge returns over Memorial Day weekend, we are excited to see even more outstanding performances this year,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission.
