Event Highlights Major Investment in Erie’s Youth and Community Wellness
The Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership joined Bishop Dwane Brock and community leaders today for a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of the Eagle’s Nest Athletic Center, a new 10,000-square-foot facility dedicated to youth development, sports instruction, and wellness on Erie’s lower east side.
The Eagle’s Nest Athletic Center is a transformational $3.4 million project supported by American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds allocated through the City of Erie, along with additional public and private investment. The new facility is located at 1129 Pennsylvania Avenue, Erie, PA 16503, next door to the Eagle’s Nest School of Academic Distinction.
Designed as a long-term resource for Erie’s youth, the center will offer structured training and recreational opportunities across multiple sports, including basketball, volleyball, wrestling, pickleball, and more.
Youth centers like the Eagle’s Nest are critical pillars of community infrastructure, especially in underserved neighborhoods where safe, supportive spaces for physical activity and mentorship are limited. This new center significantly expands access to year-round athletics, leadership development, and wellness programs for young people who need them most, helping to level the playing field and empower future generations through opportunity and inclusion.
Following remarks, the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Two students from the Eagle’s Nest program held the ribbon as Bishop Dwane Brock and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis cut it together, symbolizing a new chapter for Erie’s youth and community engagement.
