The Erie Sports Commission announced today the recipients of its 2025 Facility Matching Funds Grant Program. A record number of applications were received, and 14 organizations were awarded a total of $75,000, which is a 16% increase from 2024.
The successful applicants are: Erie Insurance Fields at McKean, $15,000 for the purchase of additional safety netting, a storage shed and new soccer and lacrosse goals; Vorsheck Athletic Complex, $10,000 to support the construction of an events pavilion; Around the Post, $7,500 for two new dedicated courts; Millcreek Education Foundation, $7,000 for Making Waves: The MIHS Pool Project; Millcreek Youth Athletic Association, $5,000 to support the construction of an events pavilion; Northwestern High School, $5,000 to support the construction of a new press box at the Northwestern High School Softball field; General McLane High School, $5,350 for the purchase of a wrestling mat for girls’ wrestling; Erie Premier Sports, $4,100 for the purchase of soccer goals; Critter Path Sporting Clays, $4,000 for facility upgrades in preparation for the upcoming PA State Championship Shoot competition; Team Lightning Productions, $4,000 for the purchase of video scoring monitors and stands; French Creek Curling Club, $3,500 for the purchase of rock handles, an ice nipper, and additional upgrades; Sinai Sports, $3,250 for the purchase of trusses and obstacles; Lake Shore BMX, $700 for facility upgrades and improvements; and Rambler Wrestling Club, $600 for the purchase of monitors for the upcoming Battle on the Bay wrestling tournament.
