The Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority has partnered with Erie Center for Arts and Technology to expand the EMTA’s French Street mural.

The mural is being completed by local high school students working through ECAT and the Greater Erie Community Action Committee’s (GECAC) Earn + Learn program.

The expansion is the third installment to EMTA’s mural that has been painted by local artists and past ECAT students. The mural is dedicated to EMTA employees of past, present and future that serve all of Erie County.

Part of the mural expansion will depict Mike Will, an EMTA employee who has served at the authority for over 50 years.

“We have dedicated this mural to our staff that has served, and will continue to serve Erie, but want to recognize Mike Will for his half a century commitment to Erie’s public transportation system,” says Jeremy Peterson, EMTA CEO. “Moving forward, we have named this street entrance ‘Mike Will Way’.”

The mural is located at 14th and French Street along an EMTA bus entrance. Buses with passengers will use Mike Will Way and have the opportunity to view the mural daily.
