The Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority will host the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association’s (PPTA) annual Bus Roadeo in Erie, August 8th through 11th.

The Roadeo brings together bus operators from across Pennsylvania to test their skills through written and on-course challenges. The Roadeo is a celebration of safety, precision, and the professionals who keep transit moving.

“The Roadeo is a great way to recognize the skill and dedication transit operators bring to their work every day. These professionals take pride in delivering safe, reliable service, and this event celebrates that commitment,” said Kim Whetsell, Executive Director, PPTA.

Public transportation providers from across the Commonwealth will send some of the top operators to compete in the event, including fixed route and paratransit bus drivers.

“Erie has not hosted the Roadeo in nearly 25 years,” said Jeremy Peterson, EMTA CEO. “Hosting the annual Roadeo allows EMTA to showcase not only what we do in Erie, but how wonderful this community is to our colleagues in transit across the Commonwealth.”

Spectators are welcome to attend the obstacle course portion of the Roadeo on Sunday, August 10th at Presque Isle Downs and Casino’s front parking area. The competition will take place beginning at 7:30AM and is free to the public.
