Please be advised that Presque Isle State Park will be hosting two of its larger annual events during the weekend of September 6 and 7. These events attract larger than usual attendance and will result in some operational changes over the weekend.
The annual Barber Beast on the Bay will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 8:30 AM. The race will begin at Beach 11 (Kohler Beach) and wind its way through a collection of obstacles and the various terrain at the park as it concludes at Waldameer Park. Roadway obstructions, for this event, will be minimal throughout the park, but the outbound roadway leaving the park will be one lane traveling south to the entrance at Waldameer. Beach 8 (Pettinato Beach) will be open for swimming from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
The Erie Marathon will be held on Sunday, September 7. The park will be closed to roadway traffic, that morning, until 12:00 Noon. The park will reopen to roadway traffic by 12:00 Noon. Bicycles, and all other wheeled vehicles, will also be prohibited on park roadways during this road closure, however, the Karl-Boyes Multi-purpose Trail will be open to park visitors. Following the event, Beach 8 (Pettinato Beach) will be open for swimming from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM. Roadways will be re-opened to park visitors.
Presque Isle State Park Rangers will be available to Park visitors, at the park entrance, for the duration of the event.
