With temps hovering around freezing, the Erie region received its first snow accumulation of the season Sunday evening. A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 1:00 PM Tuesday.
With an inch or two on the ground, forecasters are predicting additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Plan on slippery road conditions, which could impact the morning or evening commute.
The weather service also warns about localized tree damage and power outages which are possible due to the combined weight of wet snow accumulations and leaves remaining on the trees. Snowfall rates within the strongest bands may reach up to 1 inch per hour.
