The Erie School Board has received a formal community proposal to consider renaming Harding Elementary School in honor of Colonel John Boyd, an Erie native and alumnus of Harding and Strong Vincent who became a distinguished U.S. Air Force officer, and one of the nation’s most influential strategists whose concepts have also been widely used in business strategy around the world. NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE. In accordance with Board Policy 701.1, the district will host a public information session to explain the process outlined in the policy and share details about the proposal.
Community members, parents, staff, and alumni are invited to attend to learn more, provide feedback, and express interest in serving on the Naming Review Committee, which will be appointed to evaluate the proposal and gather community input in the months ahead before making a recommendation to the school board.
Information about the proposal, review process, and ways to share feedback is available at eriesd.org.
PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION:
- Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m.
