The following news release was issued Thursday by Shapiro for Pennsylvania:

Today, Governor Josh Shapiro launched his campaign for reelection, reaffirming his commitment to getting stuff done for all Pennsylvanians, protecting our freedoms, and bringing people together to move the Commonwealth forward.

In a video announcing his reelection campaign, Governor Shapiro and Pennsylvanians from all across the Commonwealth spoke about the work the Governor has done to deliver on the issues that matter most – from creating jobs and opportunity, to cutting taxes for working families, to investing in law enforcement and public education, to showing up in moments of crisis and protecting Pennsylvanians’ fundamental freedoms.

“We’ve gotten sh*t done all across our Commonwealth to make a real difference in people’s lives. As your governor, I’ve stopped the federal government from coming between you and your doctor. I’ve stood up for parents who should make health care decisions for their kids, not politicians. I’ve shut them down when they try and throw out our votes and overturn fair elections,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “Even with a divided state legislature — together — we’ve gotten a whole lot done on issues that have been stuck for decades. But there’s always more to do — more people to help, more Pennsylvanians to protect, more bridges to build. We’re moving our Commonwealth forward. So join me, and let’s keep getting stuff done.”

“This past year was marked by reckless decisions, crisis after crisis, and fear and dysfunction used as a political weapon,” says Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis. “But here in Pennsylvania, we’ve chosen a different path. We’ve put progress over partisanship, compassion over division, and solutions that work above all else. We’ve shown leadership that expands opportunity instead of restricts it. Leadership that fights with hope, not fear. I’m proud to stand beside Governor Shapiro as we announce our reelection campaigns. This is a leadership team that gets stuff done.”

Josh Shapiro has been a Governor who has brought people together to get stuff done for all Pennsylvanians –– from creating jobs and putting money back in people’s pockets, to investing in law enforcement and community organizations to increase public safety, to delivering historic funding for our kids’ education, to protecting our freedoms and our democracy. Governor Shapiro has delivered results on the issues that matter most. He has shown up in moments of crisis and emergency. And he has proven every day that he is a Governor who fights for all Pennsylvanians. Now, Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis are running for reelection to keep getting stuff done and to keep our Commonwealth moving forward.

A truly stunning sight. Officials are saying it’ll be months before the road can be rebuilt.

Governor Josh Shapiro: When disaster struck, others underestimated us. But I never did.

Reopen and ready for travelers, just 12 days after a devastating collapse.

Governor Josh Shapiro: We cut through the red tape to get I-95 rebuilt in record time. We did it using materials from a Pennsylvania business and with the muscle and know-how of Pennsylvania union workers. But it wasn’t just there. We’ve gotten shit done all across our Commonwealth to make a real difference in people’s lives. Now, Pennsylvania is open for business.

With the largest economic investment in PA history.

Over 18,000 good paying jobs.

The closest place to fuel up was miles away. When the Governor found out, he got our old pump up and running. No job is too big or too small for Governor Shapiro.

Governor Josh Shapiro officially repealed the ban on Sunday hunting long sought by sportsmen across the Commonwealth.

The Governor passed record funding for our schools.

Universal free breakfast.

Adding more teachers and mental health counselors.

Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order to open up 92% of state positions to people without a college degree.

Governor Josh Shapiro: Nearly 60% of our new hires don’t have a college degree, opening up the doors of opportunity to more Pennsylvanians who’d been shut out.

The Governor is serious about public safety, funding nearly 2,000 more law enforcement officers.

Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis: We’re focused on making life a little bit easier for families – cutting taxes seven times, for our seniors, small businesses and nearly 1 million hard working Pennsylvanians.

This is my home, and now, because of Governor Shapiro’s tax cuts, my neighbors and friends are able to stay in the homes they love.

He cut taxes to make child care more affordable too.

He even took on companies that tried to raise our electric bills.

You know what I love about our Governor? He’s got our back – from cutting costs, to protecting abortion rights, to defending our freedoms.

Governor Josh Shapiro: As your governor, I’ve stopped the federal government from coming between you and your doctor. I’ve stood up for parents who should make health care decisions for their kids, not politicians. I’ve shut them down when they try and throw out our votes and overturn fair elections.
