Fireworks, concerts, and community events headline Erie’s America250 plans

Tonight, Mayor Daria S. Devlin, 49th Mayor of the City of Erie, announced the City’s plans for America250 at Erie County’s Kickoff event, highlighting the strong partnership between the City, Erie County, and America250PA Commission.

“It’s no secret that our great city of Erie, the state’s gateway to historic Lake Erie, has played a huge role in shaping our nation. And that’s exactly what we intend to celebrate with Erie’s plans for America’s 250th birthday,” said Mayor Devlin. “As the seat of Erie County, and in close coordination with the America250PA Commission and our county partners, we are celebrating our legacy with excellence, honoring the generations who came before us, and caring for the future we are building together.”

Events include:

  • America250PA Commonwealth Concert Series concert on June 6th
    • Erie will host one of only six concerts for PA’s 250th Anniversary Celebration at the Erie Insurance Arena
  • Fireworks and concert at Rebich Investments Amphitheater at Liberty Park on July 3rd.
  • Special commemorative events at the City’s 2026 CelebrateErie weekend
    • August 14–16
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, a series of additional events will be held from June through September, offering even more opportunities to commemorate and celebrate this incredible milestone.
    • Details will be announced at a press conference on April 14th

Hunter Lytle, Special Events Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, and Cassandra Coleman, Executive Director of America250PA, both emphasized the importance of strong collaboration to ensure success.

“America250PA is built on local leadership, and Erie is a great example of that. The City and County’s work reflect civic pride, collaboration, and deep respect for the people who built our Commonwealth and this iconic corner of Pennsylvania,” said Coleman. “We’re proud to help lift that work up—and we’re excited to celebrate Erie in a big way in 2026.”

“We are very excited to work with America250PA’s Commission, the County, and our other key partners to put together a monumental celebration for the 250th anniversary of America this summer,” said Lytle. “This is a huge celebration, and Erie is meeting the moment with events and activities that showcase our history and contributions.

“We look forward to announcing more as summer approaches, so stay tuned.”

The City will announce additional details, including the full summer schedule, on April 14 — the City’s official incorporation date, marking a significant moment in Erie’s history. A media advisory with time and location will be sent closer to the date.
