The County of Erie, in collaboration with the Erie County Department of Health and the American Heart Association, are proud to officially proclaim February 6, 2026 National Wear Red Day.

This initiative is a part of a national campaign to raise awareness about heart disease, its impact on the community, and the importance of prevention and early detection. Cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer of women in the United States. On this day, the American Heart Association encourages individuals to wear red to raise awareness and show support.

  • On February 6th at 8:30 AM at the Erie County Department of Health, County Executive Christina Vogel will deliver a proclamation officially declaring Wear Red Day in Erie County. The Erie County Department of Health is located at 606 W. 2nd Street, Erie, PA 16507.

To further improve community health and access to blood pressure monitoring, the Erie County Department of Health (ECDH), has installed a blood pressure self-monitoring station in its lobby. Members of the community will be able to visit the table during business hours to check their blood pressure. At the table, individuals will be able to receive information on heart health, how to monitor their own blood pressure, and when they need to seek urgent medical care or follow-up with their family physician. For those who do not have access to a family physician, lists of local health care providers will be available from the three major health systems. The Erie County Department of Health is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The Erie County Department of Health (ECDH) is an accredited, local, county health department, which works to promote its mission throughout the community and in conjunction with local partnerships, “To preserve, promote and protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the people and the environment of the County.” The ECDH provides services to all residents in both the county and city of Erie within the divisions of Community Health Services, Environmental Health Services, and Health Improvement and Preparedness, in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH). The motto of ECDH is, “Working for the health of Erie County every day.”
