The Erie School District and embattled charter school Erie Rise Leadership Academy are close to agreeing on terms that could bring the K through 8 school a renewed charter. That’s the opinion of Erie Rise CEO Terry Lang, interviewed yesterday by Joel Natalie on TalkErie.com.
The development comes despite a recent public hearing that had tempers flare and prompted a public apology by the District’s solicitor at the time. Lang said talks with district administration have positively moved forward.
“We’re at a point now that we are not going to be fighting anymore, we’re just going to actually find common ground, and come up with a solution. Hopefully we can do that over the next 30 days,” Lang said.
Lang said that Erie Superintendent Brian Polito has asked Erie Rise for a cap on enrollment, as Polito has done with all the other local charter schools.
