County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper today announced 21 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County. The total positive cases of COVID-19 in Erie County to date is 183, with 3,558 negatives and 121 recovered.

Current data can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page at eriecountypa.gov. The cumulative cases map will be updated Friday, May 22.

“Please help us,” said Dahlkemper. “Staying home is still the best way to stay safe, even though the stay-at-home order has been lifted. Maintain your space. Avoid gathering with more than 25 people. Remember that anyone can have the virus without feeling sick. Cover your face. Wear a mask when visiting with friends, even when you are outside, and maintain a 6-foot distance. Wash your hands often, and for at least 20 seconds each time. If the virus can’t stick, it can’t make you sick. We need you to do your part.”

Guidelines for surviving the pandemic can be found online at eriecountypa.gov on the “Community Health Interest” page.

Charlotte Berringer, director of community health services at the Erie County Department of Health, joined the County Executive today to provide an update on contact tracing and the status of the per diem jobs. Applications are still being accepted for call center representatives and disease investigators. Apply at careers.eriecountypa.gov.
