The Presque Isle Partnership Executive Director released the following statement Thursday morning:

Due to ongoing concerns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision to cancel all summer 2020 event fundraisers hosted by the Partnership. The decision was necessary to maintain health standards aligned with the Erie County Health Department.

The cancellation includes the following annual event fundraisers benefiting Presque Isle State Park:

  • Presque Isle Poker Paddle (5/31)
  • UPMC Sunset Music Series (6/10, 6/17, 6/24, 7/08, 7/15)
  • Discover Presque Isle (7/24, 7/25, 7/26)
  • Presque Isle Triathlon (8/08)

“Our priority continues to be the health and safety of the Presque Isle community, including our partners, staff, supporters, performers, participants, vendors and volunteers,” said Jon DeMarco – Executive Director for the Presque Isle Partnership. “The community’s trust and confidence in this difficult decision is appreciated and we will truly miss the joy that comes with hosting these Erie traditions in 2020.”

Alternative programming is not being explored, rather, our team is focused on conserving resources and developing plans for the 100th anniversary celebration of the peninsula becoming a state park in 2021. We look forward to making 2021 a year filled with appropriate and memorable experiences at the park.

Now more than ever, we welcome the community’s much needed support through membership, donations and future volunteerism. More information can be found at www.discoverpi.com.

Visitors are encouraged to safely and respectfully enjoy all that Presque Isle naturally offers while following COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, including practicing social distancing, avoiding crowds, and wearing a mask when they encounter other people. As always, leave no trace when visiting the great outdoors.
