CelebrateErie Announces 2022 Mainstage Headliners

The City of Erie today announced the national headline acts set to perform on the Northwest Bank Mainstage at CelebrateErie, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and AHN Saint Vincent Hospital. CelebrateErie will take place Aug. 19-21.

The Friday night lineup will feature X Ambassadors. The pop rock band out of Ithaca, N.Y. is known globally for hit songs like “Renegades” and “Unsteady” from their certified platinum album “VHS,” which was released in 2015. X Ambassadors released its third full-length album, “The Beautiful Liar,” in 2021.

Saturday’s headliners will be hip hop artists Ja Rule and Mýa. Ja Rule has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, has been nominated for four GRAMMY Awards, and had several hits that made the top 20 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1999 and 2005, including “I’m Real (Remix)” with Jennifer Lopez and “Always on Time” with Ashanti. Mýa is a GRAMMY-Award winning artist with two double-platinum records, and several massively successful singles, including “Ghetto Superstar,” “Take Me There” and “Free.” In 2001, Mýa collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, P!nk and Missy Elliot on a remake of “Lady Marmalade,” which was featured in “Moulin Rouge” and became the most successful airplay-only single in history.

Sunday night will feature country music up-and-comer Jimmie Allen. Allen has amassed one billion career on-demand streams and was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards. Allen made history when he released his debut album “Mercury Lane” in 2018, becoming the first Black artist to launch a career with two consecutive No. 1 hits on country radio, with his songs “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To.” His current single “Down Home” continues to climb the country charts.

“After two years off, we think this summer is the perfect opportunity to refresh the event with a newer, more contemporary feel,” said CelebrateErie Executive Director Aaron Loncki. “Our lineup is a diverse mix of the 2000s, 2010s, and present that we haven’t seen before at CelebrateErie.”

All headliners will perform on the Northwest Bank Mainstage, following a lineup of local and regional artists. Complete lineups will be announced at a later date.

CelebrateErie is a free, three-day festival and regional showcase of the best local art, food, culture, music and people that make Erie worth celebrating. The annual event will return to downtown Erie Aug. 19-21, 2022, after a two-year hiatus.
