The Millcreek Township Fire Department (MFD) has sworn in nine full-time career firefighters to protect Millcreek Township. The ceremony took place on Nov. 27 in the Millcreek Township Municipal Building. All three supervisors were in attendance along with a crowd consisting of families, volunteer firefighters and other officials.
“I’m excited to get started serving the community,” said newly sworn Millcreek Fire Department Firefighter Joseph Albrewczynski.
The firefighters will be available immediately to assist with responses. They will work on a shift-based schedule to ensure responses are efficient across Millcreek Township.
As the Millcreek Township Fire Department continues to establish itself, the department will initially utilize volunteer equipment. This transitional period will ensure that the community receives the highest level of service and protection.
Millcreek Township established the MFD in early 2023. Additionally, MFD Chief Cliff was hired and the Fire Tax was instituted. The Millcreek Fire and Emergency Services Commission recommended the creation of the MFD as a future necessity to combat declining volunteerism.
The MFD plans to swear in more part-time firefighters later in 2023.
