Beginning a business takes an advanced level of drive and ambition, according to the experts. But also, a sense of humility and openness to outside input can make a difference.

FishUSA CEO and former executive director of the Erie Technology Incubator at Gannon University Jeff Parnell, says mentoring is critical. “You’ve got to have the ambition, and the work ethic, and the drive. Assuming those things are in place, sometimes people tend to fall in love too quickly with their ideas, and they are not as open as they should be to outside opinions and outside input,” Parnell told TalkErie.com.

Parnell said mentoring at every level of business development is key.
