Erie ranks low for small city performance

An annual study and index called the 2024 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index, put Erie at 162nd out of 203 less-populated metropolitan areas.

The Index is based on job creation, wage growth, and the high-tech sector’s output growth, in addition to housing affordability and broadband coverage. Idaho Falls, Idaho placed first on the small cities list, with Erie falling 12 positions from last year’s ranking.

Only Gettysburg ranked lower in PA.
