The French Creek Council of the Boy Scouts of America donated more than $10,000 worth of Boy Scout Popcorn to local veterans at the Veterans Hospital in Erie, PA with proceeds from their annual fundraiser.

Every year across the nation Scouts BSA members sell popcorn as part of their annual fundraiser with an option for their customers to donate to military organizations. This year the veterans at The Veterans Hospital in Erie, PA were chosen to be the recipient of those donations.

“The smiles on the faces of the veterans warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye,” said Stephanie Jackson, the Senior Membership Executive for The French Creek Council of the Boy Scouts of America. “We collaborated with other councils in the area to be able to combine our resources to make this large donation possible.”

The Scouts BSA popcorn fundraiser begins every year in late August and runs through October. On average 70% of the proceeds stay local to help support families and staff keep scouting going strong in our area.
