Improving accessibility and transparency for residents

Today, the City of Erie relaunched its Authorities, Boards, and Commissions (ABCs) process to make it clearer, more accessible, and easier for residents to navigate.

“One of the first things we did at City Hall was review all of our processes to ensure they are as effective and inclusive as possible,” said Mayor Daria S. Devlin. “Our Authorities, Boards, and Commissions bring together residents who care about Erie and want to make a difference, and this relaunch makes it easier for them to understand the process and get involved.”

ABCs are groups that play a key role in decision-making alongside City staff and community leaders. Authorities manage services and operations, boards provide oversight and guide, and commissions advise on specific issues and initiatives.

Currently, the city has 26 active ABCs ranging from historic review and planning boards to advisory commissions on environmental initiatives and community development. Applicants must be City of Erie residents and meet any position-specific requirements for the ABC they are applying to.
