The incumbent Democratic State Rep. Bob Merski, representing District 2 in the General Assembly, has won the Republican nomination in a write-in campaign. According to unofficial results Wednesday, Merski received 330 votes, beating Republican Brian Shank who also ran an organized write-in campaign.
While Merski was able to win, he only received 43.82% of the votes compared to Shank’s 39.18% of votes he received.
This election altogether was low attended. Out of 174,981 total voters in Erie County, only 36,310 people cast a vote which is only 20.75% of registered voters in all of Erie County.
