More than a football camp, Dreams 2 Destiny is an investment in the future of Erie’s youth.
From June 12-14, local students entering grades 3-6 will participate in the free Dreams 2 Destiny Football Camp, a three-day experience designed to develop football skills while building literacy, leadership, character, discipline, and purpose.
Founded by Rev. Darrell K. Cook, Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Dreams 2 Destiny was created to help young people recognize that their future is greater than their current circumstances. Through athletics, mentorship, and education, the camp seeks to inspire the next generation to dream bigger, work harder, and pursue their God-given potential.
Hosted through a partnership between Empowered Life Community Development Corporation, Spearman Youth Development Center, and Second Baptist Church, the camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-6 and is offered at no cost to participating families. Organizers are preparing to serve up to 150 youth from Erie and surrounding communities.
“Dreams 2 Destiny is about much more than football,” said Rev. Darrell K. Cook, Founder of Dreams 2 Destiny and Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church. “We are committed to helping young people develop the character, discipline, literacy skills, and confidence they need to succeed in life. We want every child who participates to leave knowing that they are capable of achieving great things.”
Participants will engage in football fundamentals, teamwork activities, character-building exercises, leadership development sessions, and literacy-focused learning opportunities. Organizers hope the camp will serve as a catalyst for long-term personal growth and academic success while helping youth build confidence both on and off the field.
At a time when communities across the country are seeking solutions to youth disengagement, summer learning loss, and limited access to positive enrichment opportunities. Dreams 2 Destiny offers a unique model that combines athletics, education, mentorship, and personal development.
“Our community is filled with young people who have tremendous potential,” Cook added. “Sometimes all they need is exposure, encouragement, and someone willing to invest in them. Dreams 2 Destiny is our way of pouring into the next generation and helping them understand that their dreams are worth pursuing.”
Community sponsorships, volunteers, and donations are being accepted to help ensure every child has access to this transformative experience.
