VisitErie, Erie County’s official destination marketing organization, has announced the appointment of Mark Jeanneret as president and CEO, following a successful leadership transition after the retirement of longtime President and CEO John Oliver.
Jeanneret has served as VisitErie’s interim president and CEO since May 2026. His appointment follows a review by the organization’s Board of Directors, which recognized his leadership, vision, and proven track record of advancing tourism and economic growth throughout Erie County.
Most recently, Jeanneret served as executive director of the Erie Sports Commission, where he helped establish Erie County as a premier sports tourism destination. Under his leadership, the organization earned Sports ETA’s 2023 Sports Commission of the Year award and generated more than $120 million in economic impact through more than 675 events. He previously served as the commission’s first events director, helping secure major events such as the 2018 Ice Breaker Tournament presented by LECOM and the 2021 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four. Jeanneret has also held leadership roles with PA Sports, including four years as chair.
“Over the past 90 days, Mark has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to VisitErie’s mission,” said Terry Cascioli, VisitErie Board Chair. “His experience combined with his passion for Erie County make him an excellent choice to lead the organization into its next chapter.”
“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as president and CEO of VisitErie,” Jeanneret said. “Erie County is an incredible four-season destination with outstanding attractions, events, and people, and I am excited to continue working alongside our talented staff, tourism partners, elected officials, and community stakeholders to build on our success. Together, we will continue showcasing everything that makes Erie County a great place to visit, invest, and experience.”
As president and CEO, Jeanneret will oversee VisitErie’s destination marketing efforts, tourism development initiatives, and strategic partnerships aimed at growing visitation and strengthening Erie County’s visitor economy.
