Sounds of Summer, Neighborhood Celebrations to Connect Residents and Celebrate Erie’s Vibrant Neighborhoods

The Cultures, Arts, Festivals, and Events of Erie (CAFE), along with the City of Erie, announced today that UPMC Health Plan will serve as the presenting sponsor for the 2026 Summer Community Programming, featuring the free Sounds of Summer concert series and the 814 Neighborhood Celebrations.

“For us to put on free events like this, it takes partners who truly believe in our neighborhoods and the people who call them home,” said Mayor Daria S. Devlin. “UPMC Health Plan has consistently stepped forward, not only as a sponsor, but as a community‑minded partner dedicated to improving quality of life across Erie.

“Their continued support reflects a deep commitment to our residents, and we are very grateful for their investment in these programs and in the future of our neighborhoods.”

This partnership supports a wide range of free, community‑engaging activities designed to bring residents together, empower neighborhoods, and celebrate all the things that make Erie so special.

“Supporting healthy aging means investing in opportunities that promote social connection, engagement, and quality of life,” said Katie Bool Shafer, Senior Community Relations Manager, UPMC Health Plan. “Through the Sounds of Summer concert series, seniors can enjoy live entertainment, build meaningful connections, and remain actively involved in their community. UPMC Health Plan is proud to partner in initiatives that help older adults thrive while fostering vibrant, connected communities throughout Erie.”

Sounds of Summer, a free concert series, features local music at senior living communities throughout the city, will take place every Monday from July 6th through August 10th and is open to the public. Learn more at https://www.celebrateerie.com/sounds-of-summer/.

The 814 Neighborhood Celebrations are neighborhood-based parties that build on the City’s Love Your Block program. These celebrations will follow the Love Your Block cleanups – held in neighborhoods across the city on July 31, August 1, August 29, September 19, and September 26 – and are resident-led festivities welcoming neighbors to connect and celebrate all they love about their neighborhoods.
