Focus on Emerging Shipbuilding Opportunities
Mayor Daria S. Devlin and County Executive Christina Vogel, joined by partners from Infinite Erie, announced today that they will be representing Erie at a two-day Economic Development Summit near Harrisburg on Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15.
Joining leaders and industry representatives across the nation, Mayor Devlin and County Executive Vogel will advocate for Erie as a strategic shipbuilding location, highlighting the region’s existing manufacturing infrastructure, skilled workforce, and maritime assets.
“Whenever there is an opportunity to advocate for Erie, the County Executive and I need to be at the table,” said Mayor Devlin. “Our collaborative presence at this summit ensures Erie is leading the conversation as the Commonwealth strengthens its shipbuilding capacity.
“We know what Erie has to offer, and as elected officials, it’s part of our responsibility to ensure decision makers know as well.”
Erie has a proven history of supporting our nation’s maritime success, dating back to the battle of Lake Erie. Still today, our region is uniquely positioned to support the next generation of shipbuilding and defense manufacturing with a combination of existing infrastructure, manufacturing expertise, and a skilled workforce.
The City of Erie and Erie County continue to work together to attract new investment, support business growth, strengthen the local workforce, and create family-sustaining jobs that benefit the entire community.
