LECOM Health is expanding access to lifesaving care in rural northwest Pennsylvania by adding a new location of the LECOM Institute for Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine inside LECOM Health Corry Memorial Hospital. The clinic offers many of the same high-tech, team-driven treatments used in the existing Erie location — now close to home for families across Corry and its surrounding populations.
Chronic, non-healing wounds are more than an inconvenience — they threaten independence, livelihoods and quality of life for rural residents who may face long drives to specialty centers.
The Corry clinic offers a full spectrum of advanced options tailored to each patient:
- Negative pressure wound therapy for faster, cleaner healing
- Bioengineered tissues and biosynthetic dressings to help stubborn wounds close
- Growth-factor therapies to jump-start recovery
Wound care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, technicians and the referring provider to create a personalized treatment plan and bring in other specialists as needed.
“Putting advanced wound services at Corry Memorial Hospital means local access to coordinated, modern wound care, which reduces complications, lowers the chance of hospitalization or amputation, and helps patients return to daily life sooner,” said Danielle Hansen, D.O., LECOM Health Regional President. “This step further solidifies our commitment to building a healthier community where we live, work and play.”
Chronic wounds affect millions nationwide and are rising as our population ages and conditions like diabetes and obesity increase.
“Corry Memorial has long been identifying and meeting the real needs of our community,” said Tim McGahen, Administrator and Chief Financial Officer at Corry Memorial Hospital. “This specialty brings additional vital, life-changing services to our hometown — care that keeps people working, independent, and close to family.”
The flagship location of LECOM Institute for Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine exists inside LECOM Medical Center in Erie.
