Residents are invited to meet development team and help shape future amenities
The Millcreek Township General Authority (MTGA) announced at its Aug. 11 meeting that it will host a public open house for the Presque Isle Gateway District. The open house will take place on Sept. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Erie County Community College (EC3).
“As the pre-development period progresses, we’re moving the Gateway District forward and giving residents an opportunity to share their input before final plans are developed,” said Dave Zimmer, MTGA Board Chair.
Residents will have an opportunity to meet members of the development team and provide feedback through interactive boards, printed surveys, and digital surveys. The survey will also be available after the event to take online.
The selected developer, Millcreek Momentum, LLC, is a joint venture among JMF Properties, Gladstone Equities and former Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweiker, who serves as senior advisor and partner.
The development team is led by Joseph M. Forgione, founder of JMF Properties, who brings more than 25 years of development experience and has overseen the construction of more than 3,000 residential units, along with numerous commercial and retail projects. Gladstone Equities contributes more than four decades of experience in commercial, retail and mixed-use development. Schweiker brings experience in municipal government and township-level development projects.
The proposed mixed-use concept includes residential units, retail space, hospitality and public amenities such as pedestrian and bicycle improvements. Final plans will be refined in the coming months, with community input helping shape the project’s public amenities.
“Public input about this area has been collected for nearly a decade, and that feedback helped get us to where we are today,” said MTGA Executive Director Matt Waldinger. “This open house is an opportunity to continue that conversation as the project takes shape. We want residents to meet the development team, learn more about what is being considered, and share what they would like to see in the Gateway District. There are still important decisions ahead, particularly around public amenities, and community feedback will continue to help inform those decisions.”
